Discover the stunning island of Korcula on a day trip from Dubrovnik. Known as the birthplace of Marco Polo and the "Dark Corfu", Korcula boasts a rich maritime history and is famous for its high-quality limestone quarries and shipbuilding industry. And with delicious local specialties like hand-made macaroni and white wine Posip, it's no wonder Korcula is a point of pride for the island.
The tour begins at 8:15 am from Dubrovnik, stopping first at the medieval city of Ston for coffee and a brief tour. From there, we'll travel through the picturesque Peljesac peninsula to the village of Orebic, where we'll board a boat to Korcula town.
While in Ston, you'll have the chance to explore the town's unique 5.5 km long wall, the second-longest preserved wall in the world. We'll also visit the ancient salt factory, where salt has been produced for over 700 years.
After docking at the entrance to Korcula's Old City, we'll take a walk through the Venetian defensive architecture and 15th-century street layout before entering the city through the Baroque South Gate. Our tour will take us to the center of the Korcula citadel to see the birthplace of Marco Polo and hear the story of this famous explorer and his connection to the island.
Don't miss the beautiful Cathedral of San Marco, with its tall bell tower resembling the mast of a great stone ship when viewed from a distance. After the tour, you'll have some free time to enjoy lunch before we catch the boat back to the mainland.
As we make our way through the wine country of Peljesac, we'll stop at a local winery to sample the famous Peljesac red Plavac Mali wine. Our journey will take us through the spectacular scenes of the Dingac hills, where the vineyards grow at a 60-degree incline, offering breathtaking views of the islands of Mljet and Lastovo, as well as the fishing villages of Trstenik and Zuljana.
Along the way, we'll make several photo stops before arriving back in Dubrovnik, approximately 1 hour and 40 minutes from the Dingac hills. Book your Korcula day trip from Dubrovnik today and experience the beauty and history of this incredible island for yourself.
